Log Home Construction

Since our logs are handcrafted, Michigan Log Homes sells a limited number of homes. It all starts at our milling operation. The logs are sorted according to their future use cabin logs, cedar decking, tongue & groove cedar paneling, lap board, beveled siding, landscape materials and wacko logs. The cabin logs are milled and hand peeled. They are then inspected and stamped by Timber Products Inspection, a national firm that inspects timber logs for their integrity. This inspection is required by B.O.C.A. Building Code. The logs are then shipped to your job site. At your job site, the logs are assembled by laminating each row of logs with a log sealant and then lag screws are used to bolt each log together. This method has been stamped and approved by an independent engineering firm.

When constructing your home, you have the option to act as your own general contractor; or you can hire Michigan Log Homes to be the general contractor to work with the subcontractors. Michigan Log Homes has worked with the highest technical insulation for your roof system, geothermal systems, wind and solar, forced air furnaces, boiler systems, and high grade windows. We have worked with many different foundations such as block, wood, poured concrete and Styrofoam basement systems. Our goal is to provide you with the most information and let you decide what product best fits your needs.
